Professional Diploma In Digital Content Development (2023-2024)

Introduction

I recently completed the Professional Diploma in Digital Content Development at the University of Limerick (UL). I found it was a good complement to my most recent role as an Instructional Designer at UL!

Topics

Topics on the course include:

  • Professional Writing: Writing for digital content delivery, topic-based writing, audience-focused writing, inclusive writing strategies such as plain language.
  • Information Design: Typography, colour, graphics, screen layout, information design theories.
  • Workplace Communications: Interpersonal, intercultural and non-verbal communication theories, communication on virtual teams, presentation skills.
  • Learning Design: Principles of learning design and how to create training materials and online courses.
  • Future Focused Professional Portfolio: Looking at T-shaped professional competence development, and at a futures perspective on technology development – speculative futures thinking.

⭐️ Portfolio ⭐️

Project 1: Instructional Video and Step-by-Step Guide

Project 2: Website build

For the Information Design module, my project partner and I designed and built a website using principles of Information Design, Typography and Graphic Design.
