Introduction
After completing my MSc in Human Anatomy at UCC, which had a strong focus on the teaching of anatomy, I started working as a Demonstrator in the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience. My role involves teaching anatomy to Medical and Health Science students.
Highlights
- Taught and demonstrated Human Anatomy to medical and health sciences students during practical sessions in the FLAME laboratory, using cadavers, prosections, plastic models, and Computer Assisted Learning applications.
- Created instructional videos, learning aids, and practice assessment images for online delivery of anatomy modules through Canvas and Panopto.
- Photographed anatomy materials to create a bank of images for use in online anatomy spot examinations.
- Assisted in the supervision of MSc. students in projects on the use of Augmented and Virtual Reality apps and headsets in anatomy education
- Organised a free trial of ”Complete Anatomy” app from 3D4Medical and installed on PCs, laptops and tablets in the FLAME laboratory for use during research projects.
- Conducted a virtual workshop on MS Teams to show new part-time lecturers how to use Panopto to record video content and deploy to course areas on Canvas (Jan 2023).
- Presented practitioner paper on Augmented Reality (AR) in anatomy education at ILTA Edtech Conference (Jun 2023).
